Asha India Conference 2017

Asha India conference was held at Tamulpur, Assam on March 25th and 26th. Rajaram from Asha Chennai attended the conference.

Written Assessments

Written assessments in English and Maths were conducted at all the Asha Chennai supported schools from Feb 14th to March 10th. It was conducted in 55 schools covering over 3300 children. Technocrats seminar held on 4 Feb 2017 at Raga Sudha Hall, Mylapore

Distribution of Relief Materials at Gandhigram

Gandhigram a poor tribal village where we support the government school was affected by the cyclone Vardha. Hyundai Glovis raised materials from their staff and company to aid these villagers.

Computers donated by Hyundai Glovis

Hyundai Glovis donated 10 used computers to Asha Chennai.These were donated to be given to the schools that we support through the Sangamam Kanini and other projects.

Project Sugadharam Launched

With support from Hyundai Glovis Asha Chennai has launched Project Sugadharam to build and repair toilets at the schools we support in Thiruvallur District.

Oral Assessments

Oral Assessments

Oral Assessments were conducted at all Project Sangamam and Project Pearl Schools in November 2016. The data from these assessments have also been analysed.

Blackboard painting at Sangamam Schools

Blackboards at the Project Sangamam schools were repainted in Oct 2016. The blackboards need to repainted once or twice a year for them to be effective. At all out government school supporting project we take up this activity.

Project Deepam First Anniversary Celebration

15th Sept 2016: Project Deepam that supports a computer centre at Besant Theosophical Higher Secondary School celebrated it first anniversary on 15th Sept 2016. This was also covered in the Adyar Talk.

Project Sangamam Materials Distribution

12th Aug 2016: Materials were distributed to all the 14 rural schools supported as part of Project Sangamam. Of these Hyundai Glovis supports 8 of the schools. This was also covered in the 23rd Aug issue of The Hindu.

Glovis Sangamam MOU: 2016-17

20th July 2016: Hyundai Glovis organised a function for signing the MOU for the continuation of their support to the Glovis Project Sangamam for the third year.

RightStart Training Programme for Asha Teachers – May 2016:

27-31 May 2016: Asha Chennai organised its annual RightStart teacher training program from May 27th to May 31st at the IIT Madras campus. About 45 teachers from various Asha Chennai projects and partner organisations participated in the training program.

Rest In Peace – Lakshmi Suryanarayanan

19 Apr 2016: On the 19th of April 2016, Lakshmi Suryanarayanan passed away . We at Asha Chennai and more broadly Asha for Education lost a pillar of our organization.

Excursions at Glovis Sangamam Schools

Mar/Apr 2016: Excursion was organised for the 4th and 5th standard children from all the 8 schools supported by Hyundai Glovis. Children went in 2 batches on March 19th and April 2nd.

Annual Day functions at Project Sangamam schools

Mar/Apr 2016: Annual day functions were held in March and April at most of the Sangamam schools. Volunteers of Asha Chennai attended most of these functions. Asha sponsored the prizes at these functions as well as snacks for the students.

Project Sangamam activities in March

2nd Mar 2016: Science day was celebrated in Ramajeri school and we also organised a Chemistry lecture at the school during the month of March. Further bureaus were also distributed to three schools.
