Glovis Sangamam Excursion – 2018

On Mar 17th and  24th : Children from all the Glovis Sangamam schools were taken on an excursion.

Excursion was organised for the 4th and 5th std children from all the Glovis Sangamam schools. This was sponsored by Hyundai Glovis. Volunteers from Glovis also took active part in the organising of the excursion. The excursions were organised on March 17th and 24th. See the photos of the excursions here: March 17th, March 24th.
Here are the details of the excursion.
Location 
Birla Planetarium and Guindy children’s park.
Schools and Children
There will be a total of 345 children from 13  schools. The children from Kuppammal Chathiram, Pattarai Perumbudur, Nemiliagaram, Gandhigram and Manjakuppam will be coming on the 17th. Children from Thomur, Katchur, Pondhavakkam, Ammambakkam, Kottaikulam, Allikuzhi and Placepalayam will be coming on the 24th.
In addition to the children about 40 teachers, 10 staff and volunteers from Asha, 25 staff from Hyundai Glovis came for the excursions.
Gifts for Children
All the children and the adults (teachers, volunteers and staff from Glovis) weregiven a T-shirt and a cap.
Further the children also received a gift. We selected the following items:
  • Cricket bat and ball.
  • Football.
  • Shuttle cock racquet with 2 cocks.
  • Skipping rope and a Ring.
  • One 13 in 1 board game.
Gifts for Teachers
The teachers were given either a power bank or a basic phone. For teachers who explicitly requested, we gave a phone. For the rest (including govt teachers) we gave the power bank.
Note that we only gave these to the teachers and Asha staff and not for volunteers or Hyundai staff.
Lunch and snacks
For snacks we gave a tetra pack juice and a small biscuit packet to each child on both the bus trips.
The lunch is being organised at Ragasudha Hall in Mylapore near Nageswara Rao Park. The food is catered by the Anbu Pazhamudhir Nilayam nearby.
Schedule
Buses picked up the children from the various schools starting at 7:00 am. They reached Birla Planetarium between 10:00 am and 10:45 am. The children see the museum and the 3D show in the next couple of hours. There was a Tamil show at the Planetarium organised completely for our group at 12:00/12:30. The children saw this and then left for lunch.
Lunch and prize distribution at Ragasudha went on till 3:00 or 3:30. Then the children went to the guindy children’s park. Finally they left by 6:00 pm to reach their villages by 9:00 pm.
