Technocrats seminar held on 4 Feb 2017 at Raga Sudha Hall, Mylapore

Asha’s Support-A-Child(SAC) project provides scholarship to 130-140 students every year, covering students from class 1 to degree courses (B.A, B.Sc, B.B.A, B.C.A, etc).  During our interaction at the time of disbursements, we often came across students and their parents expressing their inability to choose a course or a college and wanted some guidance. Most of the students are not aware of the courses available to them. Whenever we asked a +1 or +2 student what he or she would like to do next, invariably the answer would be ‘Engineering’!

To open up for them, the vast horizon in the field of education, we organized a seminar conducted by Technocrats India College Finder (TICF). This event was attended by around 25 students from class 10, 11 & 12 along with their parents as well and 5 volunteers from Asha..  It was a one day seminar wherein we provided morning tea/snacks and lunch for all the students and their parents.

TICF is a social Entrepreneurship venture founded in 2003 by Mr Nedunchezhian, an alumnus of the College of Engineering, Guindy. Their mission is to create awareness amongst student communities about the complete basket of opportunities available to them.  They strive to do their part in empowering each and every student and their parents with the crucial knowledge necessary to avoid the pitfalls and choosing the right institutions. Mr Nedunchezhian stressed the need for choosing the right course and right institution. They provide career guidance, admission alerts, application fill-up , choice filling and they also conduct facilitation classes for the entrance examinations.

After this seminar,  students have expressed their interest in availing guidance from TICF.  We at Asha have decided to go this extra mile in providing career guidance to deserving scholarship students through TICF.    Certainly, we cannot do this without financial help from DONORS! So, please donate generously to this project
